Aurélie Lethu has grown up feeling a strong link to art and nature. Raised by the sea in French Brittany, she has always been fascinated by this rough and authentic landscape. She began expressing her inner vision from an early age, experimenting various techniques and supports in art classes.
Before dedicating herself completely to art, she worked ten years as an architect, in Montreal, Paris, London and Barcelona. This background keeps nourishing and broadening her creativity.
Over the years, the landscapes she painted became more and more abstract, focusing on the idea she aims to transmit. Her work explores the duality of emotions between reality and fiction: an emotional state at a time being, limited by reality versus another one related to our aspirations, full of possibilities.
To emphasize this concept, she integrates in her technique fragments of nature like tree barks, plant fibers or floated wood. As she assembles them, this basis of rough elements subtly contrasts with her world of “emotional landscapes”.
Aurélie Lethu is now based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has made several individual and collective exhibitions internationally, in Spain, France and Brazil.
